Intensive Support, Designed for Your Life
Our Intensive Outpatient Program in Scottsdale isn’t the same curriculum everyone else gets. Before we design your treatment plan, we use qEEG brain mapping to see what’s actually happening in your nervous system. So when you show up three days a week, you’re not sitting through generic modules—you’re doing the specific work your brain and body need. EMDR, somatic therapy, neurofeedback, and DBT. Root-cause treatment while you stay in your life.
- Flexible Programs
- Neuroscience-Backed Treatment
- Trauma-Informed Care
- Curated Whole-Person Treatment
You’re here three to five days a week, four hours at a time. That frequency matters—it’s enough consistency to interrupt old patterns before they reset, but not so intensive that you disappear from your life. Most clients tell us the shift happens faster than they expected. Not because we rush it, but because everything works together instead of one modality at a time.
- The Redefined Way
Our Unique & Proven Approach to IOP
Redefine Wellness & Treatment’s mental health programs in Scottsdale are designed to treat root causes rather than just symptoms, helping you achieve lasting transformation.
Nervous System Regulation in IOP
Our intensive outpatient program starts where most IOPs don't—with the nervous system. We use qEEG brain mapping to identify patterns of dysregulation, then apply neurofeedback to train the brain toward balance. This isn't talk therapy. It's direct work with the nervous system using PEMF, breathwork, and vagal toning techniques. The goal is helping your system move out of chronic fight-or-flight so that deeper therapeutic work can actually land.
Body-Based Therapy in Outpatient Treatment
Trauma gets stored in the body—in tension patterns, shallow breathing, bracing you're not even aware of. Our IOP includes somatic therapies that most intensive outpatient programs in Arizona don't offer. Somatic Experiencing, trauma-informed yoga, therapeutic breathwork, and movement work all target what talk therapy can't reach. These modalities help the body complete stress responses that got stuck, releasing patterns that have been running in the background for years.
Evidence-Based Mental Health Treatment
The beliefs driving your life—about yourself, relationships, what you deserve—those don't shift easily. Our intensive outpatient program uses EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Brainspotting, and DBT to work directly with thought patterns and core beliefs. This is where the frequency of IOP matters: enough sessions per week to build momentum and actually interrupt old patterns, not just insight them. The work here is about lasting change at the level of how you see yourself and the world.

What to Expect in IOP
Structured mental health treatment that addresses mind, body, and nervous system—without putting your life on hold. Here's how our Intensive Outpatient Program works.
3–5 Days Per Week
Attend treatment multiple mornings each week—enough consistency to build real momentum. The rest of your day stays yours.
9–12 Hours Total
Structured time for therapy, skill-building, and nervous system regulation. Intensive enough to create change—flexible enough to sustain.
Morning Programming
Treatment runs in the morning so you can integrate what you learn into real life that same day. Most clients return to work or family by afternoon.
6–12 Weeks
Length is based on your healing process—not an arbitrary timeline. We adjust as you progress and prepare you for the next level of care or independent wellness.
Individual + Group Therapy
Evidence-based therapies like CBT, DBT, and EMDR, plus holistic modalities—neurofeedback, breathwork, somatic work—tailored to how your mind and body respond.
Scottsdale, Arizona
In-person at our intimate, calming facility. Small groups, natural light, and spaces designed to support whole-person healing—not a clinical waiting room.

What We Treat in IOP
IOP for Anxiety & Depression in Scottsdale
Anxiety and depression rarely show up alone. Most people we see are dealing with both—the exhaustion of depression and the constant vigilance of anxiety feeding off each other. Our intensive outpatient program treats them together, not as separate problems, using neurofeedback, DBT, and somatic approaches to address the underlying nervous system dysregulation driving both.
Conditions We Treat
- Generalized Anxiety (GAD)
- Major Depression
- Social Anxiety
- Panic Disorder
- Persistent Depressive Disorder
- Mixed Anxiety-Depression
The frequency of IOP allows us to work with both conditions as they interact in real time—not just talk about them once a week.

Conditions We Treat
- PTSD
- Complex PTSD (C-PTSD)
- Acute Stress Disorder

When mental health conditions and substance use disorders occur together, treating one without the other doesn't work. Conditions We Treat
- Anxiety & Substance Use
- Depression & Addiction
- Trauma & Substance Use
- Alcohol Use Disorder
- Process Addictions
- Medication Management
We're not a detox facility, but we work with clients who have stabilized from acute substance use and are ready for the deeper mental health work that sustains recovery.

Major life changes can destabilize even the most capable people. Conditions We Treat
- Divorce & Separation
- Career Change or Loss
- Empty Nest Syndrome
- Relationship Endings
- Identity Transitions
- Retirement Adjustment
Life transitions are often the moment when people finally have the space—or the crisis—to address what they've been avoiding. We meet that moment with the right level of support.
Learn more about our IOPIOP for Emotional Dysregulation in Scottsdale
Emotional dysregulation isn't a character flaw—it's a nervous system that never learned to regulate, often because of early experiences that didn't allow for it. Our intensive outpatient program combines DBT skills training with neurofeedback and somatic work to build the regulation capacity that should have developed earlier but didn't.
Conditions We Treat
- Emotional Flooding
- Anger Issues
- Mood Swings
- Impulse Control
- Emotional Numbness
- Rejection Sensitivity
The frequency of IOP matters here—regulation skills need to be practiced repeatedly in a supported environment before they become automatic in daily life.

What the Research Shows
Why Intensive Outpatient Programs Like Ours Work
IOP isn't a lesser version of treatment. It's a proven model backed by decades of clinical research. Here's what the evidence tells us about outcomes.
Nine out of ten people who start IOP finish the program. The structure of multiple sessions per week over several weeks keeps people engaged in ways that less frequent treatment often can't.
Source: VA Intensive Outpatient Program Evaluation, 2022
Nearly eight in ten people experience clinically significant improvement. That means measurable change in anxiety, depression, and trauma symptoms that affects how they function day to day.
Source: VA IOP Evaluation, 2022
The majority of people completing IOP no longer meet the clinical threshold for conditions like PTSD, anxiety, or depression. That's not just symptom management. That's resolution.
Source: VA Intensive Outpatient Program Evaluation, 2022
People who complete mental health IOP are significantly less likely to need emergency psychiatric care or hospitalization afterward. The stability built during treatment carries forward.
Source: Kaiser Permanente Mental Health Outcomes Cohort, 2024
The improvements made in IOP don't disappear after a few weeks. Research on mental health IOPs shows treatment gains hold up at 12 months and often beyond.

"IOP and PHP provide enough frequency, structure, and multidisciplinary support to create real nervous-system change. Weekly therapy can't do that alone."

Common Questions,
Honest Answers
What kind of time commitment does IOP involve, and is it flexible?
IOP typically involves 3 to 5 days per week, 3 to 5 hours per day. Many clients attend in the mornings or evenings to accommodate work or school. While consistency is important for momentum, we do our best to create a schedule that works for your life.
How long do most people participate in IOP?
The average stay is 6 to 12 weeks. Some stay longer, especially when integrating trauma or co-occurring conditions. We work with you to set short- and long-term goals and adapt the program as your capacity and needs evolve.
Do you offer evening or weekend programming for busy schedules?
What support is there once IOP ends?
We’ll help you build a personalized plan for what comes next—whether that’s weekly therapy, support groups, coaching, or holistic care. IOP is a chapter in your healing, not the end of it. Our team stays with you through that next phase, so you don’t have to navigate it alone.
