- The Right Level of Structure
Neuroscience-Driven Mental Health Treatment Programs in Scottsdale
Redefine Wellness & Treatment offers three levels of care in Scottsdale: an Intensive Outpatient Program, a Partial Hospitalization Program and private one-on-one retreats. All three draw on the same range of care, with therapy, brain-based technology and nervous-system-focused work coordinated in one plan. The aim is treatment that works with how you think, feel, react and function, not only with the symptom.

- Beyond Talk Therapy
The Structure of a Program, the Range of an Integrated Treatment Center
If weekly therapy has stopped being enough, or a therapist has recommended a higher level of care, a program gives treatment more structure and more time. At Redefine it also gives treatment more range. With more than 20 available modalities, from trauma-focused psychotherapy and somatic therapies to brain-based technology, the treatment team can work with more than one part of what you are dealing with: traumatic memories, emotional reactivity, mood, attention, physical stress responses, relationships and daily functioning. What changes between the programs is how much of your week treatment takes: three assigned days in IOP, five days in PHP, or a private block of days in a retreat.
- Clinicians with focused expertise in the modalities they deliver, so your trauma therapy, your somatic work and your brain-based sessions are each led by someone trained for that work
- A treatment team that regularly reviews how you are doing and adjusts your plan as your needs change
- Treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, as well as burnout, chronic stress and substance use
- Psychiatric evaluation and medication management in IOP and PHP, when they belong in your plan

Compare Redefine's Mental Health Treatment Programs
Intensive Outpatient Program
More support than weekly therapy, with room for work and everyday responsibilities. A typical treatment day includes group and individual therapy, neurofeedback, and breathwork or mindfulness.
Partial Hospitalization Program
Redefine’s most intensive level of outpatient care, for when you need treatment to take most of the day for a stretch. Each full treatment day moves across therapy, brain-based care, somatic work and skills development, and you go home each evening.
Private Retreats
A private, one-on-one alternative to a weekly schedule. Individual therapy with licensed clinicians is part of every retreat, with modalities such as EMDR or somatic work added according to need.
- Where to Start
Not Sure What Level of Care Is Right for You?
You do not need to know which level of care, or which modality, you need before calling.
It starts with a conversation about what has been going on and the kind of support you are looking for. A confidential clinical assessment comes next, and the recommendation rests on it: your clinical needs, your goals and what your therapist has seen. If a different level would suit you better than the one you asked about, the team will say so and explain why.
If a therapist has already suggested more support, read what it means when a therapist recommends a higher level of care.
- The Vision Behind Redefine
Healing Rooted in Connection
In this video, Julie Rake, PA-C, explains how Redefine looks at the patterns affecting the mind, body, nervous system and relationships, rather than reducing someone to a diagnosis, and brings clinical therapy, mind-body practices and technology together under one roof. She also talks about why healing here is rooted in connection: with your body, your own resilience and the people around you.
- More Than 20 Ways to Work With the Clinical Picture
Clinical, Brain-Based, Somatic and Holistic Therapies
Neurofeedback
Neurofeedback is an integral part of treatment at Redefine. In a session you see real-time feedback on your own brain activity and practice with it, and the sessions run alongside your therapy rather than in place of it. How much you receive depends on your plan.
EXOMIND
EXOMIND's patented ExoTMS technology is built on the foundation of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, a well-established and noninvasive therapy that has been studied for decades in the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder. It is FDA-cleared for the treatment of depression, and sessions run under 30 minutes. Ask the team whether it fits your treatment plan.
EMDR Therapy
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) uses guided eye movements while you hold a difficult memory in mind, and is designed to help the brain reprocess it. At Redefine it is one of several ways into trauma work, alongside somatic and brain-based approaches.
Reiki
Reiki is a gentle, hands-on energy practice led by Joe Langheim, Redefine's Reiki Master, and offered alongside the clinical work.
- Integrated Treatment
Neuroscience, Technology, Therapy and Holistic Care, Clinically Coordinated
A Neuroscience-Driven Plan
Trauma, anxiety and depression can affect attention, sleep, physical stress responses and relationships as well as mood. Redefine’s plans look at those patterns too, and bring brain-based tools into treatment alongside therapy to work with them.
Technology Beyond the Therapy Room
Redefine also offers EXOMIND, PEMF therapy and red light therapy. They may be included when clinically appropriate, to expand the treatment plan rather than replace the clinician, and several retreat tracks build in PEMF and red light sessions.
Trauma-Informed Therapy at the Core
Therapy anchors every program, drawing on approaches such as CBT, DBT, EMDR, Brainspotting, Somatic Experiencing and Internal Family Systems, chosen for what you are working on.
Nervous-System-Focused and Holistic Care
Breathwork, yoga, meditation and mindfulness run alongside the clinical work, so care for mind, body and spirit is part of the same plan. They are modalities that may support regulation, and they give you ways to practice noticing stress activation earlier and responding to it differently.
Selected and Sequenced With Purpose
More options only help when they are chosen with a purpose. Within one treatment plan, the brain-based work, the therapy and the body-based practice serve the same goals instead of running as separate services.
- Private Retreats
Five Retreats, Each Built Around One Person
A Redefine retreat is private and one-on-one, never a group. It starts with an inquiry, a consultation and assessment forms, and your itinerary is built from what they find, so no two retreats run the same way. Clinical healing retreats take on concentrated trauma and emotional work. Wellness and renewal retreats are for burnout, stress and life transitions. Every retreat takes place in a private setting in or near Scottsdale and ends with a practical action plan to take home.
- Intensive Trauma Therapy Retreat: 3 to 5 days, for PTSD, complex trauma and other painful experiences
- Deep Dive Healing Retreat: 5 days, our most intensive emotional-healing retreat, with a formal integration session at the end
- Professionals Reset Retreat: 3 days, for executives, healthcare workers, therapists and caregivers carrying burnout or chronic stress
- Wellness Retreat: a customized length, for stress relief, prevention or a general reset
- New Beginnings Retreat: 3 days, for divorce, career change, bereavement, relocation or a chosen new chapter

- A More Immersive Outpatient Experience
Residential Locations in Scottsdale for IOP and PHP Clients
Redefine partners with Saguaro Recovery to offer residential locations for clients who are traveling for treatment, or for those who need additional support while they attend IOP or PHP. There are four homes in Scottsdale: Desert Rose and Mariposa for women, and Cholla and Tortuga for men. Each is a well-appointed private home with set routines and a weekly house meeting, which adds structure beyond program hours. The residential locations are places to stay while you attend the outpatient program, not a residential treatment program, and the stay is paid separately from treatment.
- A house manager on site 24 hours a day
- Groceries, linens and household supplies included, with community dinners five nights a week
- Regular contact between the house and your clinical team
- A pool, high-speed internet and desk space for work at each home
- Availability varies, so ask admissions about openings and cost

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Programs
Which program is right for me?
It depends on how much of your week you need treatment to take. If weekly therapy is no longer enough but you need to keep working, IOP is usually the place to start. If you need most of the day in treatment for a stretch, PHP gives you that. If you want focused private work in a block of a few days, one of the retreats may fit.
Is Redefine an inpatient program?
No. IOP and PHP are both outpatient. You come to the Scottsdale center for your treatment day and leave when it ends.
Can I move from one program to another?
Yes. If IOP is not giving you enough support, the team can recommend stepping up to PHP, and as you stabilize in PHP, stepping down to IOP keeps you in care at the same center rather than starting over somewhere new. The recommendation to change comes from your progress and clinical needs.
Can I keep working during treatment?
In IOP, usually yes. It is built with a working week in mind, and the team tries to accommodate your work schedule when your three days are set. PHP is 25 to 30 hours a week, close to a full-time job in itself. Read what Redefine offers working professionals for how each program fits around a career.
How do I start?
Call our admissions team, or start with the level-of-care quiz. Admissions reviews your insurance benefits with you, schedules your clinical assessment and sets your first day at the level of care the assessment supports. If you already have a therapist or psychiatrist, the team can coordinate with them, with your permission.
